Fun for the Whole Family!

Took the wife and kids out tonight for a couple of hours. Had some excitement for the kids - landed a shaker, 10lber and 21lber, also lost a medium sized one. The 10lber came in 120FOW, down 65 at about 7:15 on a blue/white NK. The 21lber came in 70FOW, down 45 (stacker) at about 8:15 on a blue dolphin.

Here's David, Sarah and me with the big one. BTW, Leigh did an awesome job neting this bad boy!

Here's the kids and the 10lber.

Very enjoyable family time tonight - everybody was into it. Under pressure from the kids, we even kept one for the BBQ.

Salmon Fishing with Rob Dewitte

Out with my bud Rob Dewitte. We hunted for them for a few hours in choppy water, 120-200 FOW. Slow fishing tonight - a bunch of boats out there but didn't see many caught. We got a small one on a spoon and a 15 lber on a spin doc and fly. Both in about 120FOW, down 55. Rob kepted them for the BBQ.

It was 10 years ago tomorrow I was best man at his wedding (he was my best man a few months earlier). Congratulations Rob and Michelle!

Sorry no pics - didn't realize the camera batteries were dead.

Lake Temiscaming

We were at the cottage, about 1.5 hours North East of North Bay. We love this cottage - a great private beach for the kids, and great fishing for us all. It was great to have my parents visit at the beginning of the week and my brother Glen and his family at the end of the week.

Fishing started off quite slow (I was really worried) but improved as the week went on.

Here's my Dad and David with a decent Pike.

Here's David with a walleye.

I asked him to pose for another picture with his hat off but the fish didn't like that idea.

Here's one evening's catch.

All in all we had 11 walleye (8 keepers) and a few decent pike. Not nearly as good as last year but not bad considering the slow start and semi seriousness of my efforts (evenings only, kids in the boat, etc) a great week nonetheless.

I already want to go back.

Salmon Fishing with Big and Little Dave

The waves were rocking and it was raining pretty good for awhile but I was able to put in a couple hours with my son and my brother.

Trolled between 110 and 150 FOW. Generally about 60-70' down. Had flashers and diseys going but everything came on plain spoons. Went 5 for 6 with one ~ 25lber.

Here's brother Dave with the big one.

Here's my son David hugging a 17lber.

I'm up North in Quebec with the family fishing walleye for a week - hopefully when I get back the Salmon fishing is still hot.

Lake Kawagama

We were up at my wife's brother's cottage the last few days for a family get together. Great time. David did well fishing right off the dock for bass. Here he is with his uncle with one of the many bass he caught.

This lake also has Lake Trout. I had Jacob's Dream up there and put in some time riggin' for them. Tough bite - only ended up with 4 small ones.

3 Brothers Salmon Fishing

Was able to get out with 2 of my brothers this morning. Had a great time! Very active bite between 6 and 7:30am, slower after that but still consistent. We were off the water at about 11. Tally for the day was 7 for 9 with good size - only one shaker and 2-25lbers (37 inches) landed. Mix of chinnooks and Cohos. Started in about 120FOW then moved to 150FOW later in the morning. All fish came in the top 55'. All spoons, except one on cut bait.

Here's Glen with one of the big fish.

Here's Dan with a good rainbow. This fish jumped like crazy!

Here's Dan with the other big fish.

Here's Dan in an action shot.

Here's Dan's truck hooked up to Jacob's Dream (my boat).

Broke the net on the first fish but we improvised and didn't end up losing any fish at the boat. Lots of fun conversation and stories. Good time was had by all!

Jacob.

Salmon Fishing with the Brother in Law.

Been awhile since my last fishing report. Jacob's Dream (my boat) has been in and out of the shop a couple times but I think now it's finally been repaired properly.

Great morning to be on the Lake! Had my brother in law visiting from Saskatchewan and really wanted to get him into fish as this was his first time ever.

Had all 4 rods set up by 6am, first fish came 20min later and it was a brute! 38", 25lber. I let Mike take the rod and he brought it in like he had experience doing this. Here he is with a picture.

This was the biggest fish of the day, although we lost another later about the same size. All in all we were 7/11. All fish came 150 FOW +/- 20' . Spoons took all the fish although I did have spin docs and flies in the spread but they were't firing today.

Off the water by 11. Lots of fun!

Jacob.
