We went to our favourite provincial park this weekend. Just our family. We battled rain saturday afternoon/evening but nonetheless it was a great long weekend. Really enjoyed spending lots of quality time with the wife and kids. We fished, boated, campfired, hiked, swam, biked, and all went to bed and got up at the same time in the same tent. A great time was had by all with many memories made.
Saturday and Sunday afternoon we anchored the boat and fished for panfish with worms. Charleston has plenty of little fish to keep the kids excited. We caught numerous smallmouth bass, sunfish and perch.
Here's Sarah after catching her first perch (it's very tiny). BTW, I think she's trying to start a new style - lifejacket with no shirt.
Sunday evening we went real fishing - downrigging for Lake Trout. We trolled from 5:45 to 7:30 and ended up with 3 nice ones. All fish came pretty much 100' down on my blue and white salmon spoons. Here's David and Sarah with the first one.
Leigh reeled this one in all by herself. She actually seemed excited about the whole experience.
Here's David with the evening's catch. I ended up cleaning them in the dark, under the light of a mini flashlight. Not fun.
We ate them tonight once we got home. Everyone cleaned their plates off (even Leigh).
